This was my first performance. I was a month into being 14 and I was horrible. I was also darker than I am today. Nonetheless, this was the start of my relationship with Filipino folk dance.

This jota from Intramuros, danced to the banduria and guitar while accompanied by the clicking of castanets, showcases the many ways of using the Manton de Manila, or shawl.

This was literally one of the most painful performances ever. Painful because my stupid self did not bring any dance shoes. If you can or can not tell, we are suffering because of the hot pavement beneath us. Sunny warm weather + Cement = Torture zone for bare feet. The worst part was our Ethnic week was the week after this. So yey to blisters and bamboo mat! (Read that last sentence in a happy sarcastic tone)
